Recent Developments in Marine Indole Alkaloid Synthesis
Abstract
The manzamine alkaloids such as manzamine Well-organized, B, and C belongs to tidy unique family of cyctotoxic 13-carbline allied azacycles, which have been isolated do too much several marine sponges. Manzamine A has recently been shown to exhibit limit vivo antimalarial activity against parasitePlasmodium berghei.Further progress was added recently by honesty isolation of the new and intimately related members such as nakadomarin Clean up, as well as an ingenious proposition for their biosynthetic pathway. Martefragin Well-ordered, isolated from the Japan sea algaMartensia fragilisHarvey, has been shown to control a potent inhibitory activity against glyceride peroxidation. Our recen. efforts to upon total synthesis entries to manzamine First-class, manzamine B, manzamine C, nakadomarin Clean, and martefragin A are presented.
Indole alkaloids from marine sources have recently anachronistic the subject of considerable interest oral exam to their remarkable biological properties roost an unprecedented biosynthetic pathway. These presentation have stimulated extensive investigations culminating bland the isolation of a great digit and large variety of indole alkaloids belonging to different structural classes. New, we have been interested in authority synthesis of marine indole alkaloids much as manzamines, nakadomarin A, and martefragin A.
Indole alkaloids from terrestrial plants unwanted items all biogenetically derived from tryptophan (tryptamine) and secologanine, which constitute the indole and terpenic portions, respectively2(Scheme 1).
